Level 2 Classical Studies

Course Description

Teacher in Charge:

Classical studies is the study of Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. The first topic looks at what we know about society in Imperial Rome of the 1st Century CE. We will look at archaeology and investigate how developments within this field have helped shape our understanding of the Roman society of 1st Century CE Pompeii. This leads to an external standard on Roman Fresco Art in term 3. We will also investigate ancient Greek mythology, culminating in a study of the epic saga, The Odyssey, which will be compared and contrasted to a modern equivalent. Within this study, we will also examine the cultural traditions and social practices of the ancient Greeks.
