Level 3 Food Technology
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Miss K. Newman.
Develop and design innovative and sustainable food products for a client. Use research and analysis skills.
In this university-approved subject, students work collaboratively to design a 'Food for Flatting' cookbook. Students create a unique Kiwi-inspired recipe along with a complimentary dish, such as an entrée, dessert, or mocktail, to impress future flatmates. Through in-depth research and testing, students craft a dish that is inclusive, cost-effective, imaginative, zero-waste, and, most importantly, delicious.
In the second unit, students are challenged to showcase their culinary expertise by making a complex dish from scratch. Success in this project hinges on exemplary presentation and creative flavours. This course promises an exciting blend of innovation, sustainability, and culinary mastery, preparing students for both university and real-world culinary adventures.
Note: Some of the same achievement standards are taught in Textiles and Mechatronics. Check with your teacher if you would like to choose these subjects as you can only be awarded the credits once.
