Level 1 Materials Technology
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr A. Carter.
Understand and experiment with material properties to design and construct products
Students will work on planning, designing, and creating a project using a particular material. This could be Wood/Metal/Plastics, etc. There will be an emphasis on learning the design process while developing the skills and knowledge to ensure a high-quality outcome is completed within the allocated time. No previous experience is required, but it would be helpful if students have completed either 9PDEV or 10PDEV or are interested in designing and building materials-based projects.
Students will be introduced to the design process, developing an outcome to meet a brief and the correct way to measure, cut and use multiple tools and equipment.
Note: Some of the same achievement standards are taught in Textiles and Food. Check with your teacher if you want to choose these two subjects, as you can only be awarded the credits once.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Materials and other components are included in the course fees.
Cost: $40
