Level 1 Dance
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs R. Hilliar.
Exploration of dance style and genre, development of choreographic skills and understanding.
This course will explore choreography, performance and dance history. In Semester 1 we will develop these skills through the lens of rebellious dancers. We will look at what it took for dance to become what we see today. How did these pioneers rebel against tradition to create something new?
Semester 2 will continue to explore and develop our performance and choreographic skills bringing it a little closer to home. Looking at dance companies in Aotearoa, and how they have drawn on the uniqueness of our history and culture to create dance that is uniquely New Zealand, we will also look at innovative ideas that have made dance accessible to all.
You will be able to achieve a maximum of 15 credits, a minimum of 5.
