Year 10 PBL - Biotechnology (Integrated Subject)

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs M. Caldicott.

You will be learning about issues related to biological processes that impact our lives and choices. You will develop skills to make good decisions about the products you use and will have the chance to use scientific methods to develop a new or improved product that reflects the current emphasis on sustainability and safety.

  • You will learn about the biotech process that is currently used and what the future may hold.  You will look at labelling, and sustainability so you can decide which products you are prepared to use. 
  • You will learn practical biotech skills for making food products such as cheese,  yoghurt, bread and ginger beer that will give you skills to make and test your own product. 
  • You will use the scientific method to carry out fair tests as you develop a  product.
