Level 3 Earth and Space Science
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs M. Asplet-Tagg.
This course carries on from L2 Earth and Space Science but is also suitable for students new to this area of Science. The internal standards include an investigation into an earth and space science scenario (eg: ocean acidification, liquefaction), a socio-scientific issue (eg: wind farms, extreme weather events) and an aspect of astronomy (e.g. space exploration). The external standards are about the atmosphere - with an emphasis on New Zealand’s weather systems, and the ocean - with a focus on processes impacting on other earth systems. The course is very useful for students wanting to study environmental science at tertiary level.
