Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms L. Feng.


This course aims to extend and develop the ability to communicate in Chinese. Students will learn to communicate about school, daily life and routines, ask for and give directions, hobbies and interests, holiday plans, and host a birthday celebration. Assessment is through the portfolio, creating spoken and written work for NCEA. Students will need to recognize up to 370 Chinese Hanzi before their NCEA examinations at the end of the year.  

Students must be able to recognise and write some high-frequency Hanzi.  

Students need to be prepared to receive instruction in the target language.  This course is a prerequisite for Level 2 Chinese.
